相容剂是近年发展起来的一种新型功能塑料助剂品种,也叫增容剂、高分子偶联剂、大分子有机聚合物相容剂。相容剂是为了改善多数聚合物在共混时，相容性不好的缺点，其作用是降低界面张力，而加入的第三组分增大界面层厚度，阻止分散相凝聚，稳定已形成的相形态结构，以增加两种聚合物的相容性，使之相互间粘结力增大，以形成稳定的(共混)结构。塑料共混、改性、合金的关键是解决不同聚合物的相容性，而加入适量的相容剂使其具有良好的相容性，正解决了这个课题。
